Nights, he was appearing in a play. Finally the TV show went on the air. A dog licked his face when it wasn't supposed to. He dragged it down out of camera range, and it started barking.

The camera pulled back on cue and showed the actor trying to restrain the dog's barks. Dana Andrews related the episode while areuine that television drama must be on film, to eliminate fluffs and fiascos. The actor got $1,500 for the show, he said but spent $800 restoring his shat tered nerves in a hospital. Andrews, presently busy in "I Want is one of many stars who haven't appeared on televi sion. Their movie contracts wont let them.

He owns a receiver, but said: "I don't look at it; the programs are so awful. As somebody said, it's compelling, but it's bad. Still, anybody who has eyes in his head knows that television has got to be." viewers will nave to pay, oy some means, for good shows. "I've never gotten much for nothing; I don't see how people can expect to get top-grade entertainment in their homes for nothing. "Producers won have to cut costs.

They can spend even more than they do for theater pictures. hay there a cnarge of si per set for a show and five people see it 20 cents apiece. A major picture could gross $1,500,000 in one night's snowing. But theaters won't be eliminated, he feels. Too many of them leave it up to the producers.

Car dealers don't operate that way. They advertise so that when you think of a Drand of car you think of the man wno sells it," What happens on live TV. Dana asked, when actors forget theif tney cut tne sound off and the prompter throws the line. Can you imagine 2 million people getting up and walking over to tneir sets, tninfcing 'What's the matter with Another argument for filmed TV is tnat movie cameras can utilize most -of the world for settings.
