Allen, The Morning Call chief copy editor Donald E. Allen, 71, of 117 S. 4th Allentown, died Saturday in Leader Nursing and Rehabilitation Center Bethlehem. Before retiring in 1985, Allen was chief copy editor at The Morning Call. He began at The Morning Call as a copy editor in 1971.

Before that, he was a reporter for the Bradford Era, McKean County; the former Couri press in Buffalo, N.Y.; the Palm Beach (Fla.) and the Pocono Record, Stroudsburg. Post was a reporter, copy editor, Pennsylvania state editor and night news editor for the former Easton Express. Allen graduated from Penn State University with a bachelor of arts degree in journalism. He was one of six Courier-Express reporters cited by the New York State Historical Society for a series of articles, two of which he wrote, on the growth of Buffalo's suburban areas.
