Snyder, 70, of Gold, Potter County, formerly of New Smithville, dafter Monday, Sept. in his home a lengthy illness. He was the husband of Kathryn (Hart) Snyder. They were married for 12 years this month.

He owned and operated the Golden Key Bar and Restaurant, New Smithville, before retiring in 1979. Previously, he was employed by the Evansville Cement Reading. Born in Allentown, he was a son of the late Elmer H. and Katharine H. (Witek) Snyder.

He was an Army veteran of World War II, having served with the 27th Infantry Regiment. Altenbach. Frances Fulmer deFrehn, ex-Tamaqua beautician Frances Fulmer deFrehn, Kilmarnock, died Wednesday, Sept. 16, in Lancashire Nursing Home, Kilmarnock. She was the wife of the late Guy W. deFrehn and John J.

Fulmer. She owned and operated a beauty shop in Tamaqua before retiring. Born in Tamaqua, she was a daughter of the late George Zeplin and Sarah Marie (Rusden) Hadesty. She was an Episcopalian. 16, in Sacred Heart Hospital. She was the wife of the late Wilson J. Eddinger. She was a food service worker for Allentown State Hospital for two years until retiring in 1980. Previously, she was a sewing machine operator for the former Climax Specialties, Allentown, for 20 years.

Born in Allentown, she was a daughter of the late Frank and Jenny (Frederick) Uhl. She was a member of Our Lady Help of Christians Catholic Church, Allentown. Survivors: Daughters, Mary wife of Donald E. Stauffer, with whom she resided, L. Dunbar of Whitehall Township and Peggy wife of Gerald I.

McAfee, 93, of Whitehall Township died Tuesday, Sept. 15, in Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township. He was the husband of Barbara (Kaiser) McAfee, who died in 1996. He was a refrigerator mechanic at Tobyhanna Depot for a number of years until retiring in 1967. Previously, he was a coal miner for many years in Luzerne County.

Born in Mountaintop, Luzerne County, he was a son of the late Asher and Maryellen (Nevin) McAfee. He was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, Allentown. He was a Navy veteran of World War II, having served with the 23rd Construction Battalion in the North Pacific. He served in the Army cavalry in the 1920s.

A member of the Disabled American Veterans for more than 50 years, he was commander of the Wyoming Valley Chapter for two terms. Monday. Frank E. Perl Frank E. Perl, 52, of Whitehall Township died Wednesday, Sept. 16, in Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township.

He was the husband of Patricia A. (Lobach) Perl. They were married for 30 years last month. He was a control room operator for the Hercules Cement Stockertown, for the past 16 years. Previously, he was employed by the former Giant Portland Cement Whitehall, and the former Martin Marietta Northampton.

Born in Allentown, he was a son of Frank Jr. and Theresa (Yost) Perl of Whitehall. He was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Whitehall. He was an Army veteran of the Vietnam War and a member of Slatington American Legion Post 16.

He was a member of College Hill Presbyterian Church, Easton. He was leader of Boy Scout Troop 25, Minsi Trail Council, and a former director and trustee of the Easton YMCA. Benjamin Knauss, former Allentown cheese shop owner Benjamin F. Knauss, 96, formerly of 224 S. 34th Allentown, died Tuesday, Sept. 15, in Cedarbrook, South Whitehall Township. He was the husband of the late Dorothy I.

(Fehnel) Knauss. A graduate of the former Allentown Preparatory College, he worked at the former Schray's Quality Meat Market, Catasauqua, before retiring. Previously, he owned and operated the former Knauss Cheese Shop, 917 Hamilton Allentown, for many years. Born i in South Whitehall Township, he was a son of the late Frank P. and Alice L.

Tobi E. Degrandis Tobi E. Degrandis, 61, of Bushkill, formerly of Bucks County, died Wednesday, Sept. 16, at home. She was the wife of Boris Degrandis.

She and her family were one of the first families of Pine Ridge Community in Lehman Township, Pike County, and served on its board of directors. She helped establish the "Victory Field" at the community and organized fundraisers, including bus trips to Atlantic City. She was editor of the community's newspaper, "The Echo," and founder and director of the Pine Ridge youth group. Born in Chester, Delaware County, she was a daughter of Albert Wexler of Levittown, Bucks County, and the late Eve (Cohen) Wexler. Survivors: Husband and father; sons, Stephen Weiner of Levittown and Michael Weiner of Cary, N.C.; daughters, Valerie Patikas of Bushkill and Lynda Harris of Levittown; sister, Lynn Hambro of Atlantic City, 11 grandchildren and four great-granddaughters, nieces and nephews.

School Alburtis, a former Alburtis mayor, died Wednesday, Sept. 16, at home. He was the husband of Joyce L. (Snyder) Trexler. They were married for 52 years last February.

Trexler was mayor of Alburtis, 1973-75, and an Alburtis councilman, road supervisor and water commissioner, 1954-55. He was a mechanic for PennDOT in Allentown for 15 years until retiring in 1987. He also owned and operated the former Leon H. Trexler Plumbing and Heating, Alburtis, for 10 years. Born in Bowers, he was a son of the late Herbert G.

and Sally M. (Gaby) Trexler. He was a member of Church of the Good Shepherd United Church of Christ. Alburtis. He was a Navy veteran of World War II, having served in the Atlantic, Pacific and Indian oceans.

He was the husband of Joan B. (Pekrul) Engelhardt. They were married for 47 years last November. He worked for Bethlehem Steel Corp. for 28 years, mostly in the coke department, until retiring in 1993.

Born in Weehawken, N.J., he was a son of Lena (Haas) Engelhardt of Wind Gap and the late George K. Engelhardt. He was a member Cross Evangelical Lutheran Church, Nazareth, and a former councilman of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, Bangor. A Navy veteran of the Korean War, he was a member of American Legion Post 502, Pen Argyl, and the Naval Mine Warfare Association. He was a former scoutmaster of Boy Scout Troop 102, Bangor.

The number of years was incorrect in Monday's obituary. David Wenner, former Upper Hanover official David F. Wenner, 61, of Station Road, Palm, died Wednesday, Sept. 16, in St. Luke's Hospital, Fountain Hill.

He was the husband of Nancy (Mest) Wenner. They were married for 38 years in April. He was a sales associate for J.C. Penney, Lehigh Valley Mall, since 1994, and a master scheduler for Charter Systems, Plymouth Meeting, 1962-94. He and his father operated the former Pennsburg Hotel, 1957-61.

Wenner was a former chairman of the Upper Hanover Water Authority. Born in Allentown, he was a son of the late Ralph G. and Irene (Farber) Wenner. He was a member and past consistory member and treasurer of Pennsburg United Church of Christ. He was a past president of the Upper Perkiomen Jaycees and a member of Perkiomen Masonic Chapter 595, Red Hill.

He was the husband of Barbara (Thackston) I Hoffert. They were married for 53 years in March. He was a conductor for the Philadelphia, Bethlehem and New England Railroad at Bethlehem Steel Corp.

for 34 years until retiring. He also owned and operated Hoffert Roofing for the past 50 years. Born in Freemansburg, he was a son of the late Warren and Minnie (Bloss) Hoffert. He was a former coach and member of the Freemansburg-Bethlehem Township Little League. He was a Marine Corps veteran of World War II, having served with the 1st Marine Division at Guadalcanal in the Pacific.

He received the Purple Heart. He remained on active duty in the states during the Korean War. He was co-founder and life member of the Marine Corps League, Wayne-Pike Detachment. Hoffert was a member of the Disabled American Veterans, Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion. He was a life member of the 1st Marine Division Association and North End Wanderers Association.
